Earlier Houses: The current 18th century house incorporates elements from an earlier Elizabethan house on the site.
House & Family History: William Dicconson, a loyal Catholic and Jacobite, accompanied James II into exile, where, at St. Germain, he became tutor to Prince James Edward and treasurer to the queen. Edward, a younger son of the family, became bishop of Malta in 1741. A fine paneled room from Wrightington is today a period room in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where it has been installed since 1928.
