House & Family History: During the Civil War Wootton Lodge was held for the crown and was badly damaged during a Parliamentary siege. The House was restored circa 1700, which is when the flight of balustraded entrance steps were added. During the 1930s Wootton was briefly the home of Sir Oswald Mosley.
