A circa 1790 engraving of Moulsham Hall, Essex, from "The History and Antiquities of the County of Essex." The statues on the parapet and pediment are those probably today on the lawn at Woodhill.

House & Family History: Woodhill House was supposedly built by Samuel Charles Carne as an officers' mess during the Napoleonic Wars. Two Samuel Carpenter-designed statues today on the lawn at Woodhill came from Moulsham Hall, where they may have once decorated the parapet and pediment of the now-demolished Essex house (see "Images" section).
