  • House & Family History: The Elizabethan house of the Southwell family that is the focus of this record was visited by Elizabeth I in 1578. Sir Robert Southwell was rear admiral of the English fleet during the attempted invasion of England by the Spanish Armada in 1588.

    House Replaced By: The Elizabethan house was replaced by a Victorian house, which itself was demolished in the 1950s and replaced by the circa 1960 house that sits on the site today.
