The House from an early 20th century postcard
House & Family History: Waterston is a tall red brick house with black diapering. It is of three bays topped with one straight-sided gable per bay. The front contains a semicircular bow with a balustrade. The House burned in 1863 and was rebuilt in 1864 and remodeled post 1911. Waterston Manor was Thomas Hardy's model for Bathsheba Everdene's Weatherbury Farm in "Far From the Madding Crowd."
