Notes: Guthrie attended Glasgow High School and the Glasgow School of Art. He was articled to William Leiper before becoming, in 1901, assistant to William Flockhart (Guthrie later married Flockhart's daughter). He was a partner in Wimperis, Simpson and Guthrie, where, before and after World War I he worked with Gertrude Jekyll. Guthrie's most famous work is probably Winfield House, the London residence of the American ambassador to Britain.
