House & Family History: Sir Francis Blake I (of the second creation) purchased Tillmouth Park circa 1740. The House became the primary family seat after the sale of Fowberry in 1807 (the family remodeled Fowberry Tower, near Wooler, in 1776). The son of Sir Francis Blake II demolished the earlier house of 1810 and built the current house in 1882, using stones from the nearby, uncompleted Twizel Castle.
