Thornhill House (Thornhill Park)

  • House & Family History: Thornhill was the birthplace of the noted painter and architect Sir James Thornhill; the house passed out of his family's ownership in the late 17th century; after his success, Sir James was able, in 1720, to buy back his ancestral home and restore it. He died here on May 4, 1734. In 2012 Thornhill House, together with 104 acres, was listed for sale for £8.5 million.
