House & Family History: For years The Doune was virtual ruin; since 1975 it has been undergoing an ambitious restoration program. The House was described by Elizabeth Grant of Rothiemurchus (born 1797) in her book, "Memoirs of a Highland Lady."
Garden & Outbuildings: The grounds include the Hunting Lodge, built in 1877; Loch an Eilein castle, a ruin standing on an island in the loch; and archaeological sites of Bronze Age settlements.
