Notes: Rickman was an important figure in the Gothic Revival movement, where his 1817 publication, "Attempt to Discriminate the Styles of English Architecture," established the basic chronological classification and terminology for the different styles of English Medieval ecclesiastical architecture. Between 1821 and 1831 Rickman was in partnership with Henry Hutchinson as the firm of Rickman & Hutchinson. Thomas Fulljames was a student of Rickman's.
