Summerfold House

  • Built / Designed For: Duke of Sutherland

House & Family History: Summerfold was built in the late 19th century Regency villa style as a shooting lodge for the 3rd Duke of Sutherland. During the 1930s the prince of Wales and Mrs. Simpson were frequent visitors. During World War II, because of its commanding position, the House was used by the government as a lookout post and radio base; it remained a radio listening post until the 1960s, after which it fell into decay. The House was restored as a private home in 1987.
