House & Family History: The Bankes family, who were seated here for over 100 years, counted among their members William John Bankes, friend of Byron and one of the greatest travelers and collectors of the early 19th century. In 1986 the Rodenhurst family purchased Soughton Hall in a poor state of repair and restored it, opening it as a hotel in 1995. The House is today a wedding venue.
