Earlier Houses: The was at least one earlier house on, or near, the site of the current house.
House & Family History: Severn End was gutted by a catastrophic fire in 1896 and rebuilt in a sympathetic style. The house is reputed to have been the inspiration for Brinkley Court in P.G. Wodehouse's Bertie Wooster novels.
Collections: There was an onsite auction of some of the contents in September of 1964.
Garden & Outbuildings: The house is set in a 1,500-acre estate that includes a 17th century landscape park, whose stars are the Garden Pavilion (1661), the Pigeon House (1677), and the Malt House (1681). There are also formal parterres and tree-lined avenues.
