House & Family History: Sapperton was purchased by Lord Bathurst, of nearby Cirencester Park, and merged with that Estate. Lord Bathurst demolished Sapperton Manor circa 1730 and used its bits and pieces to create Alfred's Hall, a Gothick Revival folly on the Cirencester Estate that was meant to be a faux ruin.
