Notes: MacLaren was a Scottish architect who practiced in the Arts & Crafts sytle. MacLaren was a pupil of David Smith in the 1840s and began independent practice in 1850 in Dundee. He was later in partnership with David Bryce, George Shaw Aitken, George Gordon MacLaren, and John Turnbull MacLaren.
