Riddlesworth Hall

  • Earlier Houses: There were two earlier houses on the site of the current house. The first was the Elizabethan seat of the Drurys, built for Sir Dru Drury, followed by the late 18th century house (the second house), built to the designs of Thomas Leverton for Silvanus Bevan III. This house burned in 1899 and was replaced by the current (third) house in 1900, which incorporated elements of the second house.

House & Family History: Between 1946 and 2023 the house served as Riddlesworth Hall School, whose most famous alum was Diana, Princess of Wales; Diana's sister, later Lady Sarah McCorquodale, was also a student here.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: During World War II part of the park at Riddlesworth served as a British Army camp. In 1946 the Riddlesworth camp was redesignated as a Polish resettlement camp.
