House & Family History: Quarry Bank House was built in 1797 for Samuel Greg, owner of the adjacent Quarry Bank Mill, as an addition to his existing Manchester town house at 35 King Street. The Mill was donated to the National Trust in 1939 by Alexander Carlton Greg; in November of 2006 the House was purchased by the National Trust to complete the Quarry Bank Mill Estate. The House's gardens were opened to the public for first time in March 2008, as part of a five-year restoration plan.
