Quantock Lodge

  • Built / Designed For: Henry Labouchere, 1st Baron Taunton.

    House & Family History: In 1919 the 8,000-acre Quantock Estate, the House, and all its contents, were sold in an 11-day auction. The House was purchased by Somerset County Council, who operated it as Quantock Sanatorium until the early 1960s, when Quantock Lodge was purchased by David Peaster, who converted it into a school. In 1998 Quantock School closed and the House became an entertainment venue.
