Pitlour House

  • Built / Designed For: Colonel Philip Skene

    House & Family History: The design for Pitlour was originally commissioned by General Robert Skene from Robert Mylne in 1775-76; in the event, however, it was actually built by the general's brother, Colonel Philip Skene, in 1784 to the same designs. Pitlour is a house of five bays with a three-bay center pediment.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: The Icehouse, the Stables, a Cottage with Gothick windows, and a Doocot Tower with an ogee roof, all of the early 19th century, are extant.
