Earlier Houses: There was an 18th century house (the first house) that was demolished in 1884 and replaced by the 19th century house (the second house) that is the focus of this record. The first house was visited by Robert Burns and his friend John Syme in July of 1793, during their first tour of Galloway.
House Replaced By: The 19th century house was itself replaced by a mid-20th century house (the third house).
Collections: A 1790s portrait of William Glendonwyn by Henry Raeburn that once hung in Parton House is today in the collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
Chapel & Church: In the grounds are the remains of a Catholic chapel.
