House & Family History: During the 1920s Parnham House was a country club; during World War II the House was occupied by the American army. In 1976 John Makepeace purchased Parnham and based his School for Craftsmanship in Wood in the House. In April 2017 a catastrophic fire destroyed Parnham's interiors; all the contents were also lost to the flames. In 2018 Historic England said that the house was "at risk of collapse"; later that year Parnham was listed for sale for £3 million.
