House & Family History: Oxwhich was the leading example in Wales of the Elizabethan prodigy house. In 1968, during routine maintenance works, a rare example of a medieval (circa 1320–40) gold brooch with three rubies and three cameos was discovered at Oxwhich. The circular brooch, which may once have been part of the treasure of Edward II, is today on display at the National Museum Cardiff.
