An 1825 engraving of the House from "Neale's Views of Seats"
Earlier Houses: There was an earlier timber-framed building on the site; elements of this house were incorporated into the current house in the 17th century.
House & Family History: During World War I the House was used by the military to house officers and as a recuperation home for soldiers returning from France. It was during the Great War that Oxney Court was gutted by fire; the House was abandoned and became a celebrated local ruin over the next 80 years. In 1998 Oxney Court was rebuilt and restored as a family home, which it remains today.
