Built / Designed For: Francis Hurt
House & Family History: Oak Hurst is a huge Victorian mansion built in 1840 for Francis Hurt in a mock-Tudor "black and white" style. The House was hugely remodeled and enlarged in 1888 and 1894 for the Johnson family, whose large (and now derelict) wire works sit below the House in the Derwent Valley.
