The house from a 1907 postcard
Earlier Houses: The ruins of the Grade I-listed Mount Grace Priory are in the grounds. Founded in 1398 by Thomas Holland, 1st Duke of Surrey, Mount Grace was the last monastery established in Yorkshire before the Reformation. It is today the best preserved and most accessible of the ten Medieval Carthusian priories in England.
