House & Family History: During World War I the house served as a military hospital; after the war ended Morden Hall was converted into a women and children's hospital. The last private owner, Gilliat Edward Hatfeild, who lived at nearby Morden Cottage, left the house and estate to the National Trust at his death in 1941.
