House Replaced By: The 18th century house by Robert Adam, the focus of this record, was demolished in 1835 and replaced, circa 1846, by the current red brick, Grade II-listed house that serves today as an Acorn Trust Home for the disabled.
Garden & Outbuildings: Robert Adam created the Swan Fountain and cottages circa 1780 for Richard Rigby, paymaster-general of the forces.
Chapel & Church: In 1776 Robert Adam remodeled the early 18th century church for Richard Rigby. The Church was demolished in 1870; all that remains today are the twin classical towers, which are owned by English Heritage and open to the public.
