Methven Castle

  • Earlier Houses: There was an earlier castle on the site of the current Methven Castle.

    Built / Designed For: Patrick Smythe

    House & Family History: The earlier Methven Castle was the home of Margaret Tudor (1489-1541), queen of James IV, King of Scots, and daughter of Henry VII of England. Margaret moved to Methven after her marriage (her third) to Henry Stewart, 1st Lord Methven, in 1528. She died here on October 18, 1541.
