Notes: G.J. Skipper was educated at Bracondale School, Norwich, and attended Norwich School of Art in 1872. Skipper was articled to John Thomas Lee in 1873 for three years and began independent practice in 1879 in East Dereham; he moved to Norwich in 1880. From 1889 to 1912 Skipper was in partnership with his brother, Frederick Wilemer Skipper. G.J. was architect and surveyor to East Dereham Urban District Council and eight other councils. He was succeeded in practice by his son, Edward John Goodwin Skipper, who maintained the practice in Norwich. G.J. Skipper is considered one of the most ebullient of the Edwardian Baroque architects.
