Malahide Castle

  • House & Family History: Malahide's Great Hall dates from the reign of Edward IV. In 1973 the last Lord Talbot de Malahide died; his heirs were unable to afford to maintain the House and pay the death duties; thus, the House and contents were sold in the 1970s.

Collections: All the contents were sold in the 1970s; the National Gallery of Ireland was able to purchase 35 of the family portraits and place them on loan them to Malahide.
