Makerstoun House

    House & Family History: General Sir Thomas Makdougall-Brisbane, who was seated at Makerstoun in the 19th century, had a distinguished military career surving under the 1st Duke of Wellington. In 1821 the general was appointed govenor of New South Wales. Brisbane, the capital of the Australian state of Queensland, was named after the general.
