Kneesworth House (Kneesworth Hall)

  • Earlier Houses: There was a 17th century house on the site of the current house.

    Built / Designed For: Han Sydney Holland, 2nd Viscount Knutsford.

    House & Family History: The Kneesworth Estate was purchased by Han Sydney Holland, 2nd Viscount Knutsford, in the early 20th century. In 1947 the House became a residential boys' school; in 1968 the local council purchased Kneesworth House and ran Kneesworth House Approved School here until its closure in 1986. The House is today Kneesworth House Hospital.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: Lord Knutsford added 140 acres to the Estate in the early 20th century.
