Kilshannig House

  • Built / Designed For: Abraham Devonsher, MP

House & Family History: Kilshannig was built in the mid-18th century for the Cork banker Abraham Devonsher, MP. Sited overlooking the road to Cork, Kilshannig is a three-story house over a basement with a red brick entrance façade and a stone garden façade. The central block is linked by quadrant wings to L-shaped pavilions. The interior plasterwork, by the Italian stuccadori the Lafranchini brothers, is exceptional.

Comments: Kilshannig is considered a masterpiece of Irish Georgian architecture.
