Kentchurch Court (Kentchurch Park)

  • House & Family History: The core of Kentchurch was built in the 14th century by the Scudamore family (Scudamore translates into "shield of love"), who arrived in England with William the Conqueror in 1066. Circa 1800 the Scudamores engaged John Nash for an extensive amount of work: remodeling the interiors and adding a new wing to the House, adding a new story to the 14th century tower, and refacing the exterior of the House. In 2011 Kentchurch was the subject of a Channel 4 television documentary hosted by hotelier Ruth Watson as part of her "Country House Rescue" series.
