House & Family History: In 1975 the House and 15,000 acres were sold for £2 million by Bill Stirling, brother of Special Air Service (SAS) founder Sir David Stirling, to Mahdi Al Tajir, a Dubai businessman and United Arab Emirates ambassador.
Collections: Most of the contents of Keir House were sold at Christie's in December of 1982. In 1995 further contents were auctioned for more than £1.5 million. Also in 1995, six paintings were auctioned for £553,000 in Sotheby's Old Masters sale, including "The Pieta" by Luis de Morales, which was hammered down for £311,000.
