    House & Family History: Ingwell is an early 19th century Greek Revival style house that is noted for its domed staircase hall. In 1948 the House was purchased by Cumberland County Council for £5,000 to be used as a school. From 1953 until 1987 it was Ingwell School, a residential school for children with learning disabilities.
