Holmdale

House & Family History: Holmdale was designed by G.E. Street for himself in collaboration with his son, Arthur Edmund Street. The House was later extended by Barton Webb. The living rooms are tile hung and half-timbered and form an L-shape with a stone tower on an angle. Gladstone was a visitor to Holmdale and made known his like of the House. In June 2006 the House and 38 acres were listed for sale for £6.5 million.

Comments: Pevsner, writing in "The Buildings of England: Surrey," called Holmdale "very impressive."
