House & Family History: Supposedly inspired by Cicero's villa at Formiae, Lord Holland's house was ruinous by the end of the 18th century. In the mid-19th century the house was restored and expanded (it was during this work that the central portico was moved to the Sea Bathing Hospital at Margate).
