House & Family History: Haseley was the home of the famous decorator Nancy Lancaster, who purchased the House, together with 80 acres of grounds, for £4,000 in the mid-20th century. When she bought it, Haseley was in a very poor condition, so Mrs. Lancaster set about restoring and redecorating the House, in the process creating a minor showpiece. Nancy sold the big house in 1971 (the same year as a major fire) and retired to the Coach House; in 1982 the current owners, the Heywards, purchased Haseley.
