Gunthorpe Hall

  • House & Family History: Sir John Soane remodeled Gunthorpe for The Rev. Charles Collyer in 1790 (Soane's plans for the House survive today in the Soane Museum). The only Soane room to survive unaltered from Butterfield's 19th century rebuilding of Gunthorpe is an apsed-ended room on the first floor. Gunthorpe was purchased by Sun Alliance Insurance Company from the Sparkes family in 1976.
