House & Family History: Greathed Manor was formerly a retirement community, run, since 1959, by the Country Houses Association. The House was sold by them circa 2002 during their financial collapse. The House's name was changed from Ford Manor to Greathed Manor by the Country Houses Association in memory of its founder, Rear Admiral Greathed.
