Built / Designed For: Sir Christopher Wray
House & Family History: James Paine designed the east facade for the 4th Earl of Scarbrough; however, this was but a small part of grand plans that were never carried out. Paine's drawings for Glentworth, dated 1753, are today at Sandbeck Park. The famous Joseph Rose, working for Paine, carried out lovely plasterwork at Glentworth. After hosting troops during World War II, the façade was mutilated circa 1950 and restored in the early 21st century. In 2003 the house, together with six acres, was listed for sale for £500,000.
