Garden & Outbuildings: Gate Burton is famous today for its chateau ("shatoo" in Lincolnshire speak) or temple or summer house. The chateau was the creation of John Platt, who built it in 1747 for Thomas Hutton, who had recently purchased the estate. The chateau is today on a long lease to The Landmark Trust, who operate it as a holiday rental.
