Gargunnock House

  • House & Family History: Though the current house has a façade of 1794, Gargunnock is built around a 16th century tower. The Estate was purchased in 1835 by Charles Stirling, a Glasgow merchant, whose sister, Jane, was a friend and pupil of Chopin. Jane brought Chopin to Scotland in 1848, where he visited with her and her family and very possibly played the same piano that is today at Gargunnock.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: There is an early 18th century walled garden that was altered in the mid-to-late 19th century. The park has trees of 180-to-200 years old.
