Frognal House (Frognall)

  • House & Family History: The name Frognall is believed to be derived from "frog pool." In 1915 the house and 1,740 acres were sold by the Marsham-Townshend family to the government, which opened Queen's Hospital (later Queen Mary's Hospital) here in 1917, a role it served until the hospital closed in 1974. Beginning circa 1980 Frognall was used as administration offices; in 1999 the house became a Sunrise Senior Living Group center.
