House & Family History: Foxwold was the home of Roland Pym (1911-2006), the noted theatre designer, landscape artist, muralist, and book illustrator (his 2004 book, "The Kentish Scene: Pages from the Brasted Diary," is a lovely compendium of his work and shows the influence of Rex Whistler).
Garden & Outbuildings: The House is surrounded by 205 acres of gardens laid out in 1912. The famous nude bathing scene from the 1986 film "A Room With a View" was filmed in the Estate woodland in a pond constructed for the movie. The woodland was badly damaged by the fierce storm of October 1987, during which the man-made pond was destroyed.
