  • Earlier Houses: An earlier, mainly 18th century, house was rebuilt and enlarged in the 19th century to form the current house.

    House & Family History: T.B.T. Hildyard commissioned T.C. Hine to remodel and enlarge his Georgian house, circa 1851-54. In addition to a new exterior shell, Hine added a large porch tower to the Entrance Facade and a galleried Saloon and a large Conservatory at the back of the House.

    Collections: Flintham contains furniture by Holland & Sons, including the two-story-high prize-winning bookcase/chimneypiece designed by McQuoid and shown at the Great Exhibition by Holland & Sons. Two paintings by Philippe Mercier, "The Bible Lesson" and "Three Children in a Garden," were purchased by Sir Robert Hildyard, 3rd Bt., and remain today in the collection at Flintham. On July 7, 2011 Christie's sold an 1835 Paul Storr vermeil cup from Flintham for £32,450. The vase, in the style of the Warwick Vase, with a lapis base, was formerly in the collection at Syston New Hall.

    Comments: Pevsner called the Conservatory (inspired by the recently completed Crystal Palace) the "pièce-de-résistance" of the House.
