Firbeck Hall

  • Built / Designed For: William West

House & Family History: During World War I Firbeck Hall housed Belgian war refugees. In the 1930s the house was reborn as Firbeck Hall Club, an exclusive country club that became the haunt of royalty and celebrities. During World War II the house became a hospital run by Sheffield Royal Infirmary while the grounds were converted into RAF Firbeck. At the end of the war Firbeck Hall was occupied by the Miners Welfare Commission (Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation), who operated a convalescent home for injured miners in house. Firbeck Hall was later taken over by the Trent Regional Health Authority, who, until the 1990s, ran an industrial accident rehabilitation center in the house. After many failed redevelopment attempts, Firbeck Hall was converted into flats in the 2020s.
