Built / Designed For: Matthew Wilson

House & Family History: Eshton was designed by George Webster of Kendal for Matthew Wilson in the Elizabethan style. The Wilson family employed Webster to design dozens of houses for them. Eshton Hall was a nursing home in the latter part of the 20th century. In 2002 (the same year a number of chimneypieces were stolen from the house) planning permission was granted for the conversion of Eshton into 13 flats, with five cottages in the grounds.
