Englefield House

  • Earlier Houses: There was an earlier house on, or near, the site of the current house.

    House & Family History: In 1559 the crown confiscated the Englefield Estate from Sir Francis Englefield because of his support of the Catholic Mary, Queen of Scots. Queen Elizabeth I visited Englefield on two occasions. On May 20, 2017 Pippa Middleton, sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, married James Matthews at St. Mark's Church on the Englefield Estate, after which a reception was held at Englefield House.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: The Englefield Estate today covers approximately 14,000 acres in Berkshire and North Hampshire. The Estate consists of farmland, forestry, residential, and commercial property; the House is set in a deer park.
